Outdoor philosophy
Outdoor learning is not only about mastering a skill —
it is about discovering how capable we truly are.
Winter programs
Lessons on snow with room to progress.
Winter instruction runs at Mount St. Louis, Glen Eden, and Lakeridge. Families can choose 1v1 to 1v4 ski and snowboard lessons, or inquire about holiday camps with lunch support and select pickup service.
Summer programs
Lessons on water that start simply and build from there.
Summer programs are designed for first-timers, families, returning paddlers, and youth groups. Students can begin with group lessons, move into route sessions, or take Paddle Canada certification courses across Ontario and Montreal.
Special-needs support
Outdoor lessons can be adapted with more support.
We welcome families seeking more individualized support for autistic children and other students with additional needs. We begin with a conversation so we can understand communication style, pacing, transitions, safety considerations, and family goals before lessons begin.
- We can coordinate with caregivers and professional RBA partners when a student benefits from more structure, clearer routines, or additional behaviour support around the lesson.
- Our instructors receive internal preparation on pacing, communication, transitions, and how to support students who need more predictability, regulation support, or one-to-one attention in outdoor settings.
- Eligible families may be able to use autism-related or other approved funding toward lessons, depending on their plan, provider requirements, and documentation.
Safety and certification
Clear standards, qualified instruction, and real operating systems.
Families should know who is teaching, how programs are supervised, and what standards are behind each season. Acorn Valley runs as a structured outdoor school with certified instructors, insured operations, venue-based teaching, and direct communication with families before and after lessons.
